Do you have a favourite season?
Mine is most definitely Autumn. Whenever I mention this to people they tend to look at me with a slightly bewildered look on their faces. "Autumn?!" they usually gasp. "Why?"
Well, let me explain the wonderfulness of Autumn.
Firstly let me point out, that is specifically autumn in Britain that I love. Don't get me wrong, I do love the summer but by the end of a British summer I am often starting to feel slightly frustrated - will it be warm? Will it rain? Who knows?
I love the predictability of autumn. You know where you are with it. No, we won't be having a BBQ outside we will stay inside warm and cosy. And when we do venture outside it will be in gorgeous thick jumpers, a scarf or three and hardy boots.

One of my main loves is the fabulous array of clothing on offer in autumn. For someone with a slight boot and coat obsession, the world in your oyster. As fabulous as a floaty summer dress and sandals are, the allure of being able to hide everything away under a gorgeous cosy jumper, thick tights and boots and a fabulous scarf wins every time for me. Throw your wedges to the back of the wardrobe, dig out the wellies and kick up the leaves!
To be extremely specific, October itself is the jewel in the Autumn crown as far as I am concerned. Cooler, slightly breezy days which haven't yet been blighted by the bitter winds and rain of late November and December. Gorgeous crunchy leaves to walk through, collecting conkers, light salads making way for warming comfort food and long walks being rewarded by hot chocolate with lashings of cream and marshmallows.
I even love it when the clocks go back and there is the excuse for evenings to start a little earlier. It becomes perfectly acceptable to close the curtains, get comfy and cosy and snuggle down next a roaring fire with a large bowl of hearty stew.
There are so many lovely family focused events such as Halloween and fireworks night to enjoy during Autumn. Nothing beats wrapping up warm in hats and scarves, venturing out in the dark and watching little ones faces light up more than the fireworks in the sky with wonderment.
October to me is also very much the countdown to Christmas. No, I am not one of those people that has all their presents bought and wrapped before the end of the month is through, but it is the time when you can start thinking about it and all the wonderful times ahead.
What are you excited about and looking forward to at this time of year?
